Each pair of Fuchsia flats is handcrafted in a traditional workshop by a group of artisans who are passionate about using their skills to support their families and community. By making shoes for Fuchsia, they not only get to do what they love, they also receive a respectable living income which provides them and their loved ones with food, shelter, education, and health care.
Our sustainable footwear is all about: high-quality, environmentally responsible shoes which genuinely benefit the artisans who make them.
Our artisans usually work on a batch of 40 to 60 pairs in a cycle. This involves a few days of craftsmanship that goes into every pair of shoes. The process begins with an approach that blends centuries of tradition, as we start each pair with the blank slate of beautiful and individual imperfections of natural leather, with each individual craftsman lovingly and painstakingly tying each knot and sewing every seam.
Our workshop is located an hour away outside Faisalabad – the third most populous and major industrial city in Pakistan. The workshop is relatively small in comparison to surrounding factories and solely makes shoes for Fuchsia to provide its workers a sustainable living throughout the year.
Fuchsia is committed to treating these artisans with respect and dignity, supporting them as they continue a centuries-old tradition of time-honed craftsmanship. Not only does this result in a sustainable, environmentally responsible manufacturing process, it also means our customers can enjoy unique, handmade products which would otherwise be inaccessible to a global audience.
