What retail will look like in 2020

Jonathan Schifferes’ background stems in urban planning. As a Senior Researcher at the RSA with an interest in the social and economic effects of built environments, Schifferes is pioneering ways in which future retail models can be beneficial to society. In his report 2020 Retail: Shopping for Shared Value, he details it's influence and importance, and how we can harness its power.

"In communities the world over, retail shapes the way that people structure their lives and relationships, and conditions how they experience choice. Retail is a critical part of how a local area feels and functions. Improving our understanding of retail’s interactions with the places in which it trades is critical to improving how we live with each other and within our resources in the future."
