Designer Matías Sierraand and filmmaker Florencia Tagle founded Coyote Bags in 2011 at a design fair where they sold just 10 backpacks, all handmade.
"The project was born spontaneously without much forethought or ambition; it was something natural. Coyote Bags wasn’t born of any specific need, it was just the desire to do something new and personal."

Beginning with just a few styles, they kept numbers small, but after great reception from Santiago locals they kicked into full gear. Now stocking their bags in the thousands, Coyote have the freedom to experiment with new textiles and designs.[caption id="attachment_1733" align="aligncenter" width="1050"]

"We've worried a lot about how to build a brand image and a concept, because we believe that our bags and backpacks are part of a vision of a particular world. Our backpacks are urban, but also capture the essence of the explorer and the mountains. We believe that the combination of the city and nature is key to understanding Coyote."

Making backpacks is their outlet - a space where they can develop their ideas and visual skills, analysing every detail until it’s perfect.Coyote Bags have been at the forefront of Santiago's backpack revolution, inspiring many other makers in the city. Their designs seek to rescue classical designs and combine them with the functionality and comfort of a modern backpack.
