Compostable Packaging Parts

Part of this product or it's packaging is capable of decomposing naturally in a home compost or in an industrial compost environment, in a way that is not harmful to the environment and produces compost.

Criteria

  • The parts must be tested for compostability [industriallly or at home]
  • The resulting compost should meet the quality criteria outlines in EN 13432 [related to the toxicity of the compost]
  • After 6 months no more than 10% of the original dry weight should remain.

Publication Requirements

  • Outline which parts are compostable
  • Specify if they are home or industrially compostable

Accepted Evidence

Evidence should strongly support the claim and will be made publicly available

  • Test report, proving parts pass standard compostability tests

Accepted Verifiers

Verifiers are third parties who can confirm the validity of a given Proof Point

  • Laboratory
  • Testing company
