The OF&G Organic label, certifies products that meet the UK's organic farming standards. Approved by Defra and accredited by UKAS, OF&G certification ensures responsible agricultural practices, restricts synthetic pesticides and GMOs, promotes biodiversity, and guarantees at least 95% organic ingredients in processed foods. It supports transparency and consumer trust in organic products across the UK organic supply chain.

Standard Summary

A product must meet the following standards:

  • Use farming methods that enhance soil fertility and biodiversity.

  • Ensure genetically modified organisms (GMOs) are not used in farming and production.

  • Synthetic pesticides, herbicides, and chemical fertilisers use is strictly limited to exceptional cases

  • Any livestock must have access to outdoor grazing and organic feed.

  • For processed foods, at least 95% of ingredients must be organic, and only approved additives can be used.

  • Certified operators are subject to at least one mandatory annual on-site inspection, carried out by OF&G as a UKAS-accredited, Defra-approved control body.
