Der Blauer Engel
The Blue Angel is the German government's environmental label, covering more than 100 product groups from paper and cleaning products to electronics and building materials, that have a lower environmental footprint than average. Requirements are written separately for each product group, so what the label means depends on what product is certified, but in every case the product has to meet all the criteria. It was established in 1978 and is awarded by RAL gGmbH against criteria developed by the German Environment Agency.
